About DAN

Dan Durette

My dad was a trombone player in a Portuguese marching band that I joined around age 14. I have been to Canada and the Azores in the band. I left the band in 1982 (21 years old).  I played trumpet when I was young. I got back in playing trumpet with a couple bands and then played in the Army National Guard’s band. After I got out I took some drum lessons and started playing drums again in different bands. Marching, jazz, cover band etc.  I joined a band playing “ORIGINAL “ music and the band was OLYPSYS. We were only together for a couple of years but we did a lot. We played for a few venues like The Local 269 in New York, The Hard Rock Cafe Boston and a few local ones. We made an album at the Woolly Mammoth studio in Waltham where Aerosmith records. Also, we were under contract for 1 year with Symmetric Records a small record company. I played with a jazz band for a year. When I was playing trumpet in the community band I switch to playing drums in it when the drummer left the band.  Presently, I’m still playing with the community band as LEAD drummer and loving it.  When I took over the drum section I was asked to play in the orchestra for a professional musical ANNIE.   Now at age 62 I’m still playing and looking forward to sharing my knowledge of reading music and playing drums to those who need it.
